OCCuLT
NOSTRADAMUS
was born on December 14, 1503, in St. Remy, Provence, France,
and studied at Avignon and at the University Of Montpellier, where
he took his doctorate in medicine. He soon won extraordinary fame
and repute as a doctor, curing thousands in the plague years by un-
orthodox remedies. He settled in Salon, where he first bgan to
prophesy. His first book Of prophecies appeared in March, 1555.
He was summoned to Court by Henry II and his wife, Catherine de
Medici, and established there. During his life, Nostradamus' neigh-
bors held him in awe and respect; kings, princes, and prelates beat
a path to his door. Chavigny writes, "Those who came to France
sought Nostradamus as the only thing to•be Seen there." Nostra-
damus died in 1566, a prophet with honor in his own country.
Aside from the countless predictions which history itself has
confirmed, Nostradamus predicted—hundreds Of years before their
actual invention—such méchanical devices as the periscope, the
submarine, and the airplane. His prophecies, here translated and
interpreted by Stewart Robb, have wtihstood the test Of time. They
are a testimony to the ancient seer's startling accuracy; for obviously
there is no time limit on true prophecy.
STEWART ROBB, author, lecturer, and translator, is a graduate
Of the University Of Manitoba and Oxford. He is the world's leading
authority on Nostradamus as well as a noted scholar on the Bacon-
Shakespeare controversy. He has been a regular panel member Of
the famous Long John Nebel show as well as virtually every other
talk show, speaking on psychic phenomena and other related subjects.
